Videri Chocolate Factory

videri cholocate factory

Did you know that Raleigh has a chocolate factory?  We do indeed!  If you love chocolate, and who doesn’t, you must pay a visit to Videri Chocolate Factory in the Warehouse District of Downtown Raleigh.

First of all, you’re going to love the facilities.  Videri is located in an old brick building that retains all of the original character.  The floors and wood beam ceilings look original.  There’s a really cool metal ceiling that I’m not sure is original to the building, but it’s definitely a really nice touch.

Every Thursday the talented chocolate makers roast organic, fair trade cocoa beans right there at the factory.  I’m told the place smells amazing on Thursdays!  Of course I think it smells great every day of the week :-)

Once the roasting process is done, the beans are ground and mixed with ingredients like organic cane sugar and organic cocoa butter and you have chocolate.  There’s an aging process that takes place too, but don’t worry, these guys keep a pretty good stock of finished product on hand.

There’s a bar area where you can enjoy your chocolate with a cup of coffee, or you can take your treats out to the patio when the weather’s nice.

So stop by and visit  Videri Chocolate Factory at 327 West Davie Street when you get a chance and be sure to tell them I pointed you in their direction!
